In Honor of Ryan Finlay, Welcome to My AngelRide Page.
In January 1991, I was in an explosion caused by a gas leak, in which I suffered 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burn injuries. My life was forever changed. Imagine being a 10 year old girl with 67% of her body in scars, and how challenging it would be from that point on. I was extremely fortunate enough to be one of the very first campers at the Arthur C. Luf Burn Camp in the summer of 1991. I attended for 5 years and always looked forward to going back. It was a place that I could truly be a kid not just the kid with the burns. The counselors truly cared and helped me become the strong, confident woman I am today. I have been a volunteer counselor at the camp for the past 2 years and one thing that has not changed is all of the SMILES! Sincerely touches my heart to have an impact on the lives of the kids at burn camp the way my counselors impacted mine. Ill be back again this year because it means a lot to me to play a role in developing the self-esteem of young burn survivors and helping them to have the greatest experience just being a kid at camp.
Last year, I participated in the AngelRide with the love of my life, Ryan Finlay. He knew how much my Burn Camp Family meant to me and was so "wicked" passionate about doing everything he could to help send kids to the camp. Ry passed in January of this year and I know he would want me to continue to follow my heart. Please help me honor Ryan this year by joining my team, Findawgg Angel Riders and riding along side us or simply by making a donation. My goal amount this year is $2258, which signifies Ryan's NYPD badge number. Please help me reach or surpass my goal.
